North Coast Events

Del Norte County. Redwood Forests. Crab feeds all winter long. Birding is big in Del Norte, and the Aleutian Goose Festival is a testament to that. Come for a car show, don't miss the County Fair and bring your kayak and try a race on one of our beautiful rivers.

Humboldt County. Home of the world's tallest trees and more than 100 miles of stunning Northern California coast. In addition to the giant redwoods, you'll find outdoor adventures like hiking, kayaking, birdwatching, biking and scenic drives.  And of course, Redwood National Park and the Avenue of the Giants.

Lake County. One of California’s hottest new wine destinations.  Mount Konocti, an ancient volcano that recently opened to offer one of the newest day hikes in the state. Hiking, biking, wine tasting, paddling, fishing, birding, golfing, off-road adventures, and even rockhounding!

Mendocino County.  Rugged coastline, breathtaking beaches, whale watching, picturesque villages, majestic redwood forests and delicious Mendocino vintage beckon you to escape to a slower pace.

Sonoma County. Known for wine, but with 76 miles of Pacific Coastline, redwood forests, an African safari and a thrilling road course, we boast every type of activity, ensuring you have something to write home about. Just for Fun - North Coast

Kinetic Sculpture Race This 3-day race is along California's northern coast from Arcata to Ferndale. Racers compete for glory in all variety of people-powered kinetic contraptions, pedaling along roads, the beach... even through the Humboldt Bay!

Civil War Days The quaint north coast town of Duncans Mills will become the fields of Virginia circa 1863. Civil War Days will once again be on tap as one of the largest re-enactments west of the Mississippi.

Fortuna Rodeo Come enjoy small town Americana. The good old days are still happening every year at the Fortuna Rodeo with a week-long celebration including a citywide chili cook off and CCPRA finals.

Wildlife Events - North Coast

Mendocino Whale Festivals- Imagine...tasting delightful wines in elegant shops and galleries just steps from the dramatic Pacific Ocean cliffs. You can experience this and many more luxuries of the eye and palate at this year's Mendocino Coast Whale Festivals!

Godwit Days- This 3-day spring migration bird gathering toasts the Marbled Godwit along with all of the birds from the marshes, bays coastal redwoods and the mudflats from the Redwood Coast in California. Select from more than 100 lectures, field trips, boat excursions and workshops. Post-festival and pre-trip offers are available for a lengthy stay, giving you the chance to discover all of the birds from the Klamath Region and North Coast.

Annual Heron FestivallHeronHeld each spring at Northern California's Clear Lake, the festival began in 1994. It was created by the local Redbud Audubon Society, as a way to celebrate the nesting season of the plentiful Great Blue Herons in treetops along the meandering waterways at Anderson Marsh. Redbud Audubon offers boat trips into the marsh with expert Audubon bird guides to point out the heron nests and explain heron behaviors. The purpose is to enable the general public to witness first-hand and to learn about the amazing local birds and wildlife. Audubon leaders has the conviction that, through first-hand experience with nature, people come to understand the need to conserve and protect the area's natural resources and habitats.

Summer Concerts at Rodney Strong Vineyards The summer celebration runs from June through September with intimate performances by world-class musicians in a stunning vineyard setting.

Redwood Coast Jazz Festival Four fun-filled days of traditional Dixieland Jazz, swing, calypso, zydeco and more! Happening all over town with food, beverages and nonstop fun everywhere! "The best small town festival in the West"

Blues by the Bay Held on a beautiful bay-front setting in Old Town Eureka. Featuring some of the finest Blues Musicians close enough to touch.

Oldtime Bluegrass Festival This annual event brings together local and regional musicians for performances on two stages and features demonstrations and vendors selling old-time handmade crafts, Art-in-the-Barn, beer and wine gardens with Lake County wines, food, children's activities, and workshops that make this event fun for the entire family. Attendees are encouraged to bring their instruments for workshops, on such topics as banjo, fiddle, and flat-picking techniques for guitar, and for informal jam sessions behind the ranch house.

Food and Spirits - North Coast

Hops in Humboldt This event features over 35 of the best breweries from across the country. For one price you can try unlimited samples of hundreds of different micro-brews, listen to 3 bands as they rock the stage throughout the day, cruise different art and craft vendors selling everything from Humboldt clothes to local hand blown glassware and you get a cool commemorative glass to keep.

Salmon Festival Attendees of the all-day event will have an opportunity to learn more about Yurok culture, dance to live music, shop for authentic handmade gifts form more than 100 vendors and enjoy a delicious traditionally cooked salmon feast.

Bodega Seafood, Art and Wine Festival One of the most popular festivals in the Bay Area, the event annually attracts thousands of foodies, art aficionados, wine and beer connoisseurs and music lovers to picturesque Watts Ranch in the village of Bodega, where Alfred Hitchcock filmed his classic thriller, "The Birds."

Mendocino Crab and Wine Days Festival  Mendocino's Crab and Wine Days is rated one of America's Top 10 Seafood & Wine Festivals by Coastal Living Magazine you'll devour the all-you-can-eat crab feeds, winemaker's dinners, wine competitions, crab cruises, cooking classes, family-style cioppino feeds and crab cake cook off and lots of seafood! Many restaurants and Inns are celebrating with specials and events throughout the county, from the coast to the inland valleys

Artisan Cheese Festival Learn how to taste, buy, serve and enjoy distinctive artisan cheeses from the experts. The educational seminars and tastings are led by cheese experts, cheesemakers, chefs and fromagiers from across the country, and virtually every session involves tastings and/or pairings of artisan cheeses. The festival features a wide variety of artisan cheeses from California and beyond, together with their artisan bread, food, wine and beer complements.
