Sports Events - San Francisco Bay Area

Berkeley Kite Festival - At the Berkeley Kite Festival it seems that a fresh surprise awaits around every corner. In one amphitheater you'll find multi-line competitions of the Bay Area Sport Kite League. In another you'll find events and other competitions, such as the candy drops and rokkaku battles.

Bay to Breakers - Since 1912, tens of thousands of people have gathered in San Francisco to see the world's largest footrace unfold as more than 70,000 costume-clad runners and walkers push off at 8 am.

San Francisco International Dragon Boat Festival - Nearly 100 dragon boat teams and 2,500 paddlers from across North America will race the 500-meter course; festival also features entertainment and children's activities.

Turkey Trail Trot – Held in Golden Gate Park this invigorating fun run or walk has become a popular Thanksgiving Day tradition.

Wildlife - San Francisco Bay Area

San Francisco Bay Flyway Festival - Celebrate the return of more than 1 million shorebirds and hundreds of thousands of waterfowl. We will once again gather together from all parts of the Bay Area for our Mare Island-based Wildlife and Birding Expo and to visit some of the best wildlife viewing areas of the Bay. It is a magical weekend when so many people come out to marvel at nature that they may not even notice on a daily basis. For just one weekend it is not about the one community we live in, it is about the entire ecosystem of wildlife that knows no city limits or other boundaries.

Cherry Blossom Festival - An event that celebrates the coming of spring amongst the 200 cherry trees donated by the city of Toyokawa, Japan as part of the sister-city program. Arts, crafts, Music, and food from their sister-cites culture are featured during this two-day event.

Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival - Every year we are joined by hundreds of performers from both Japan and California to give over 200,000 attendees a taste of the Japanese/Japanese American culture. Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival - More than 250,000 visitors are expected to come together to enjoy pumpkins that dwarf Volkswagens, enchanting events and contests for the whole family, the amazing Picasso of pumpkin carvers, harvest-inspired crafts, the tastiest pumpkin pie on the planet, three stages of smashing entertainment, the ultimate home-spun parade, and the never-ending search for the Great Pumpkin.

Bay Area Storytelling Festival - For more than 27 years, we've brought you nationally celebrated performers whose stories lead you far from home, through laughter and tears, and face-to-face with yourself. Once again we are bringing some of the best storytellers in the country to perform here in the Bay Area. The Festival takes place at the Conference Center of the award-winning, historic Craneway Pavilion, next door to the Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historical Park, Richmond, CA.

Bay Area Kidfest - A 3-day weekend event of quality live entertainment and activities and sports for children which stimulate learning and exploration present parents with new ideas and opportunities from 100 arts & crafts and other exhibitors plus showcasing community groups dedicated to families and children while celebrating the value and importance of families as a key part of a healthy community.

Fleet Week San Francisco - Fleet Week is the Bay Area's opportunity to honor the nation's men and women of the Navy and marine services. Navy ship tours and air show.

San Francisco Fall Antiques Show - The oldest continuously operating international antiques show on the West Coast. Currently celebrating its 32nd year, the show includes 70 distinguished antiques dealers from America and Europe selling a broad range of antique merchandise.

Zinfandel Festival - The Festival offers an appreciation of Zinfandel from every angle you can imagine, from the academic to the lighthearted. More than 200 Zinfandel wineries pour their wines at the festival.

Mountain View Art & Wine Festival - Silicon Valley's World-Class Art & Music Festival is a vibrant multicultural celebration featuring 600 professional artists and craftmakers showing exceptional handcrafted wares, stellar live music on stage and street throughout downtown, the Comcast Pigskin Party Lounge with giant screen TV, festive food and drink with premium wines, microbrews, sangria, mojitos and margaritas, artisan specialty food purveyors, an organic and green products showcase, health and wellness displays, home and garden exhibits, up and coming performers strut their show-stopping stuff on the Community Stage in this "Mountain View's Got Talent" style showcase, and action-packed Kids' Park with a climbing wall, hula hooping, carnival rides and super cool body art.

Chocolate Festival - held in Ghirardelli Square benefiting Project Open Hand. Projected to be the biggest one yet, this two-day long celebration of chocolate will feature sampling by some of the finest local dessert companies and of course Ghirardelli Chocolate! Come enjoy live music, chef demonstrations, ice cream eating contests and more!

Arts & Olive Festival - Back with the original flavor and better than ever! Spend Sunday outdoors with the whole family on the Peninsula: the Arts & Olive Festival will offer a fabulous showcase of olive products, art works, olive pressing demonstrations, and live entertainment. This year for the first time, there will be an opportunity to meet representatives of the Bay Area's diverse arts community at the first Cañada College Arts Resource Fair. Parents will be invited to bring their children to the Kid's Corner where they can play games and take part in craft activities.

San Francisco Free Folk Festival – For more than 35 years, the festival provides two full days of music and dance workshops, concerts, dance parties, crafts, vendors, formal and informal music-making, and just plain fun for the whole family. All ages and musical interests are welcome. All events and workshops are open to anyone who wants to drop in and participate or just listen. And did we mention that admission is free?

Midsummer Mozart Festival - A beloved Bay Area institution, the Midsummer Mozart Festival was founded in 1974 by George Cleve and a regional consortium of classical musicians. Thirty-eight years later, the Festival is the only music festival in North America dedicated exclusively to Mozart. Under the baton of Maestro Cleve, the Festival presents a critically-acclaimed summer concert season featuring renowned international soloists as well as distinguished local artists, with a dedication to fresh and intelligent interpretation of the work of this most enduring and universally loved composer. San Francisco Bluegrass & Old Time Festival - One of the major urban hotbeds of old-time music in the U.S., this annual festival is a gathering of more than 50 bands at dozens of venues ranging from churches to renowned clubs throughout the Bay Area.

San Francisco Jazz Festival - One of San Francisco's biggest and best musical festivals features local, national and international jazz artist performances at new SFJAZZ Center.

Jerry Day - The Excelsior District celebrates native son and Grateful Dead leader Jerry Garcia with an outdoor concert and family fun.

San Francisco's Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival - This huge event in Golden Gate Park has upped the ante on music festivals going green and "leveraged San Francisco's food, wine, technology and activism cultures, "according to Rolling Stone, "for a one-of-a-kind world-class experience."

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass - This free celebration of music in the park includes a who's who of top entertainment.

Treasure Island Music Festival - Internationally renowned artists gather for a spectacular two-day, outdoor concert festival featuring electronic music and indie pop, local designers, artists, food and beverage. The two festival stages are erected on Treasure Island offering amazing views of the bay and the San Francisco skyline.
