California Dog-Friendly Beach Guide

Dog friendly beaches in California Photo credit: Kayla at Carmel Beach, Dave KendrickMillions of California travelers visit the state’s lakes and ocean beaches each year, and dog owners increasingly want to share the sand, sun and surf with their pets. While not every beach is dog-friendly, many welcome leashed canine visitors and some allow romping off-leash.

DogTrekker.com works tirelessly to sniff out dog-friendly splash spots and is constantly updating its listings. Since rules and regulations can change from time to time, it’s always a good idea to check before taking your dog to the beach. Here is a partial list of our favorites by region.
